What a week!

What a week it has been! And to some extent, what a month! :-)

Four nights in a row, people had camped here… Wish we had arranged a few sleeping bags. Reminds me of the poha we had one of those early mornings. Ketan said it was the best poha he has had, and I thought the same.

There had been construction headaches – drilling right on top of our head, internet troubles, but we managed to make progress through all those hurdles. Everyone was ready to adapt and change as per the need of the hour. The tasks were never easy. It truly has been the best team effort I’ve experienced. And at the end, it proved to be a huge success - socialmedian went beta.

Guys, thank you all for everything. I’m proud of each one of you.

Onwards!

So how is it like working in a startup vs. some IT giant?

Exactly like playing twenty20 vs. test cricket.

Choose your game.

“I don’t want to be grumpy here. I just want to be helpful: Check your spelling, read your email, double-check everything. This is a job application, not an IM with a buddy. We appreciate when you take the time to apply, but it’s a waste of your time if you don’t nail the basics.” From 37signal’s blog

The hackathon turned out to be a great event. Fantastic ideas got prototyped/implemented.

Everyone was free to work on whatever they wanted to, and it proved that you get so much done when everyone has the freedom to explore different things, and when there is a real sense of ownership.

Caching with Rails

Toying with the idea of using memcached and CachedModels with Rails in a distributed application environment.

Any thoughts/suggestions?
